UNESCO objects to skyscrapers in Prague
UNESCO has announced objections to a project aiming to construct skyscrapers in the Czech capital. The city authorities plan to erect two skyscrapers in the Prague-City business district.
The idea caused concerns first among the local residents and then at UNESCO which called on the authorities to reconsider the proposals, because the Czech capital as a whole is on the list of the world's cultural heritage.
Experts lament that skyscrapers would ruin the city's panoramic view in contradiction with the beautiful Old Town ancient buildings.
The Czech Culture Ministry has blocked the project until mid-July in respomd to the statement from UNESCO, reports gazeta.pl
