USA to expand sanctions on Belarus – Jonathan Moor

The United States of America is going to expand economic sanctions on Belarus. The announcement has been made by the chargé d'affaires pro tempore of the USA in our country Jonathan Moor at a press conference today. Moor confirmed that only 6 American diplomats would stay in our country. He also noted that the economic sanctions imposed on Belarus and Belarusian enterprises would not be lifted, on the contrary, they would be expanded. However, the diplomat did not specify which of our enterprises may suffer the fate of “Belhaftahim”.

Speaking about humanitarian cultural and educational programmes and the traditional festival “Ambasovishcha”, the chargé d'affaires pro tempore said: “All the programmes will continue while I am in Belarus. And “Ambasovishcha” will be organized for sure”.

The diplomat noted that the USA will continue demanding to release Belarusian political prisoners: “It does not matter how many American diplomats remain in Belarus, - it is the number of Belarusian political prisoners that matters”. He stressed that the number of political prisoners in our country had increased to three people.

Let us remind you that the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affaires sent a note to the chargé d'affaires pro tempore. The note contains a list of diplomats to be banished from our country.
