Vaitsyushkevіch: I’m not going to overstrain myself at “Basovishcha”
The winners of last year’s contest “Flaus and Klein” will not attend “Basovishcha” this year, “a festival tent” will be set up for DJs, demonstration of films will be organized and the band IQ-48 will perform in buckskins. It has become known that the IQ-48 band is going to surprise visitors of “Basovishcha-2008” with a new image.
The frontman of the band Sasha Rakavets explained that they were tired of Martians’ white overalls and were looking for other clothes. He also told ERB what songs the band would perform during the festival.
Sasha Rakavets: “We are bored of singing in those white slips. We are thinking about surprising people somehow. Maybe we will wear 70’s buckskins – rock ‘n’ roll. We have not decided yet. There will be new songs we have never performed before. The majority of the songs will be from our new album so that people could know what to expect when the CD is out”.
We asked one of the organizers, the head of the Belarusian Union of Students of Poland Radek Dambrouski about other zests of the festival:
“There are interesting bands that have never attended Basovishcha. For example, WZ-Orkiestra. There will also be bands that have not attended the festival for a long time – “Troitsa”, Zet, Pomidor/OFF. There will also be the “Festival Tent” where DJs will be able to perform and films will be projected”.
ERB phoned Zmitser Vaitsyushkevich to find out why WZ-Orkeistra’s performance was a zest of the festival.
Zmіtser Vaitsyushkevіch: “I just love open-air festivals, good sound and having fun with the audience. We would simply like to show that we are normal guys and not only romantic, lyrical people. I am not going to overstrain myself”.
Another interesting fact about “Basovihsa-2008” is the absence of last year’s winner “Flaus and Klein”. The organizer of the event Radek Dmbrouski explained that inviting last year’s laureates was not a rule but just a tradition:
Radek Dambrouskі: “Being the organizers, we have decided to change this good tradition. Laureates used to open the festival but it will be opened by IQ-48 and “Krama” this year. Everything is done to draw more attention to our favourite contest and to prepare the audience for the 20th anniversary of “Basovishcha”.
Interestingly, “Flaus and Klein” are still unaware whether they will give a performance or not. The band’s manger Vital Brouka told ERB that he had not managed to contact the organizers of the festival.
Vіtal Brouka: “I do not know whether we will go there or not. It is not clear yet. I cannot comment on it as it is really not clear. At first the steering committee contacted us but then we lost contact somehow”.
In Vital’s opinion, the organizers are trying to play safe. He said they thought the band lacked songs in Belarusian but added that it was not true.
Let us remind you that visitors of this year’s “Basovishcha” can get free visas. They have to send their appeals with personal information to the e-mail of the festival till July 7. Information about the necessary data can be found on the official website of “Basovishcha”.
The festival “Basovishcha-2008” will take place near a Polish town of Haradok on July 18 and 19.
