Victor Yanukovich disapproves of Crimean referendum
He wrote it on Twitter on March 10.
"The annexation of Crimea according to the referendum results would be illegal because the whole Ukraine needs to take part in such referendums. But the new authorities must take the people’s will into account. More details coming at 3 p.m. tomorrow,” he wrote on Twitter.
The Ukrainian ex-President is expected to give a press conference in Rostov-on-Don on March 11 – it will be his second press conference over the last 12 days.
Yanukovich’s Twitter page is real, Ukrainian journalists told BelaPAN. However, the expression “new authorities” sounds weird as Yanukovich called himself President at the press conference on February 28.
The referendum about the status of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea is appointed for March 16.
