Victoria Azarenka out of Kremlin Cup singles
Elena Dementieva of Russia beat teenager Victoria Azarenka of Belarus 7-6 (4), 6-2 Friday to advance to the semifinals of the Kremlin Cup in Moscow, reports Associated Press.
Dementieva, runner-up here in 2001 and 2004, prevailed on a first-set tiebreaker and won four consecutive games in the second to win in 1 hour, 28 minutes. She served five aces.
The 18-year-old Azarenka, who upset second-seeded Maria Sharapova in the second round, never threatened Dementieva. Together with Belarus's Tatsiana Puchak, Azarenka will play in the simi-finals.
