Will 24/7 drugstores be closed in Minsk?
Rumours that 24/7 Minsk drugstores may be closed soon appeared the other day. It was announced that there were no clients to serve and that the only customers of such drugstores were prostitutes, drug addicts and drunkards. The Ministry of Healthcare has refuted the information. They say that 24/7 drugstores will remain in the city. In fact, employees of Minsk 24/7 drugstores complain that it is not profitable to work at nights – the receipts are small. Furthermore, only contraceptives and disposable syringes are popular at night. They say that such drugstores may disappear one day and that commercial drugstores will be the first to close.
A drugstore in Independence Avenue: “Commercial drugstores are most likely to be closed as there are no customers – only drug addicts, prostitutes, drunkards and homeless people... Prostitutes buy contraceptive devices and other shit… The others buy syringes and use them right here, in the corridor”.
24/7 drugstores may be a good alternative to 24/7 wine shops as drunkards will always get their sip of grog and drug addicts will be able to buy syringes there.
The Ministry of Healthcare assured us that 24-hour drugstores were in no danger. Nobody is going to close them, says the head of the pharmaceutical inspectorate of the Ministry of Healthcare of Belarus Lyudmila Revutskaya:
“No, I do not know anything about it… Absurd. It is a lie. Night drugstores will not disappear”.
A chemist from drugstore #24 in the center of Minsk is sure that the “innovation” will not influence their shop as it is very useful:
“Closing down? On the contrary, more and more drugstores are appearing. We will certainly not be closed… We have so many grateful customers, they need us here”.
