Will Lukashenka abolish criminal responsibility for activity on behalf on unregistered organizations?
Criminal responsibility for participation in unregistered organizations can be abolished only by the highest officials of the State. This was informed by the Minister of Justice Viktar Halavanau during the meeting with civic activists Alena Valynets and Siarhej Matskevich.
As it was stated by the Chairman of the working group of NGO Assembly Siarhej Matskevich, abolishment of this article would take no less than half a year.
Matskevich: "They did not tell us the exact position. They confirmed they made no further steps. They simply transferred responsibility for this issue to the above, to the President in the first place. It is likely this issue would not be even discussed for half a year".
Let us remind you, that participation in an unregistered organization is punished with 6 months of detention or 2 years of imprisonment, in accordance with Article 193.1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus.
