Yarmoshyna: Lukashenka can still decide to participate in debate

Alyaksandr Lukashenka may decide to participate in the debates of the presidential candidates, said Chairwoman of the CEC Lidziya Yarmoshyna on August 25 in an interview to Tvoyo Segodnya (online broadcast of the newspaper "SB Belarus Today"). According to her, saying that the president has a fear of debate is wrong. Yarmoshyna noted that talking about them is too soon, as the presidential candidates will be registered only in September. Nevertheless, she believes that Lukashenka has the best chance (99.9%) to be registered, because in his favor were submited 1.7 million signatures.
Lidziya Yarmoshyna does not rule out that a representative of Lukashenka can take part in the debate instead of him.
Alyaksandr Lukashenka has traditionally refused to participate in debates with presidential candidates. In a recent interview to non-state media he spoke about it, stressing that h had nothing to talk about with other candidates.
