Youngsters have called on citizens to take a more active part in country's life by placing photos on a poster with borders of Belarus. In downtown Minsk, youth activists mounted a stand, reading the slogan of Citizen campaign and took pictures of bypassers who volunteered. One copy was given away as a present; the second was placed on the stand depicting the borders of Belarus.

"The action aims to demonstrate that Belarus is created by its citizens, not officials and politicians. We are showing that it is possible to work with citizens in this way -- just on the street, and to voice our goals...", said Mikita Krasnou who co-organized the action.

Some 50 people stopped to take a snap within 30 minutes. The ambiance was very positive.

Girls: "Oh, God! Hooray! Finally! Thank you!"

It was also possible to take part in the action by sending a photo earlier via internet.

Mikalai Statkevich: "I was passing by.. I support this campaign! And Siarhei Skrabets attended the launch of this initiative on behalf of our party..."

Recently, Citizen activists submitted 500 applications with Minsk City Hall, seeking permission to stage mass street actions. All of 500 applications were rejected.

"Our applications were rejected! We will organize a new action in order to raise the issue of freedom of associations in this country", Citizen activist Vyachaslau Dzianau told Euroradio.

The action will take place on December 10, Human Rights Day.
