Youth in Salihorsk mark Kalinouski’s birthday anniversary
Youth activists in the town of Salihorsk have marked the birthday anniversary of the Belarus’s legendary hero Kastus Kalinouski. Local members of the Malady Front (Youth Front) opposition group put up the national white-red-white flag at the central square in front of the town hall.
“We congratulate you with Kastus Kalinouski’s birthday!” was written below, according to the press service of the Malady Front.
Kalinouski headed the national resistance uprising in 1863-1864 in Belarus and Lithuania against the Russian czarist regime.
Aged 26, he was captured and executed by the Russian authorities. Today is his 169th birthday anniversary.
