Yuhen Vorsin appointed head of national ice hockey federation (photo, video)

The former sports minister and the Eurasian Economic Community chairman was elected almost unanimously with only one man voting against.
On March 18, the Belarusian Ice Hockey Federation elected a new chairman. He is 61-year-old deputy Eurasian Economic Community chairman Yahen Vorsin. He was the favourite well before the polls.

The candidature was nominated by HC Homel and the Homel Region's ice hockey federation. The man was also publicly supported by Dinamo Minsk hockey club management.

In his first address in a new role, Yauhen Vorsin said that focus should be shifted to the regional structure of the federation in order to boost the development of ice hockey in this country. He also said that Belarus internationals should be returned hom from the Russian clubs.
