Zh.Litvina: Adoption of the bill will make all attempts of a dialogue with Europe null and void

The chairperson of a civil organization “The Belarusian Association of Journalists” Zhanna Litvina has commented on the adoption of the law “On mass media” in its first reading by the House of Representatives. Let us remind you that the discussion and voting lasted for only 30 minutes. 93 deputies voted “pro” and only one of them voted “contra”.

"The problems of mass media are a top priority for all European and international organizations. They are watching everything that is going on with the press in our country. If the regressive bill is passed, the official Minsk will make all attempts of organizing a dialogue with European structures null and void”, - thinks Litvina.

The BAJ chairperson is surprised at the fact that such an important bill is being passed in such a haste. “I can find only one explanation – we are approaching another political campaign that will partially change the composition of the Parliament. So they seem to be eager to make current deputies totally responsible for this regressive bill in order to justify themselves by the fact that it was adopted by “previous members”, - thinks Zhanna Litvina.
