Activist fined for $600 for distribution of anti-military leaflets
Court of Mahileu fined Deputy Head of Free Belarusian Trade Union Yury Novikau for distribution of leaflets against foreign military bases in Belarus.
As Euroradio informed before, he was detained on September 8 during collection of signatures against location of foreign military bases in Belarus. The police confiscated signature sheets and agitation materials, printed in small quantity by the BPF and the United Civil Party. The trial against Yury Novikau started on October 11 but was postponed due to improper execution of the police charge sheet.
According to BelaPAN, this Tuesday the court heard the case again and considered the activist guilty of distribution of printed matter not being an official distributor. He was already punished for the similar offense this year year and this was considered an aggravating circumstance. Novikau is obliged to pay the fine of Br 5 million 850 thousand (about $635).
