Arrested officials revoked licenses from lawyers for Square protestors
Belarusian Ministry of Justice officials were arrested by KGB agents when accepting a $1000 bribe.
A criminal case has been started against the arrested officials for "bribery committed by a group of people".
Meanwhile, there has been some information coming in about the identity of the arrestees. They are probably the head of administration for Advocacy and Legal Activity Licensing Halina H. and her Deputy B.
Human rights defender Tatsyana Ravyaka told Euroradio:
"These are the people who took the decisions to cancel the licenses of the lawyers who defended the Square participants in 2010... This year, in June, the official [the Head of Administration] commented upon the return of the license to one of the lawyers and mentioned that some lawyers managed to get better-paid jobs. Naturally, it was a professional offense for them to hear that... And now the life turns at such an angle that these people will need lawyers' help themselves."
All the arrestees, including the businessman who gave the bribe, remain in custody in the KGB detention center.
