Belarus to launch a second airline for international routes
Minister of Transport and Communications Anatol Sivak says the new airline is set to create competition for national flag carrier Belavia.
"There is an assignment to the enterprise Hrodnaaviya to create a second international passenger airline," RIA Novosti quoted him as saying. According to Sivak, the new company is to create competition to Belavia.
The minister said that the project business plan is under discussion, which must be approved by the Ministry of Transport. It is expected that the Hrodna airline will change its name in the process of reform. It should be recalled that so far it has provided freight services on domestic and international airlines with aircraft AN-30, AN-26 and AN-32, has provided travel (within the country) services as well as services in an aerial survey.
Airline Belavia operates scheduled passenger flights to 40 airports in Europe and Asia. Its fleet has 26 aircraft.
