‘Belarusian lead’ in Pavel Sheremet’s murder investigation
Ukrainian investigators have found ‘a Belarusian trace’ in the murder of Pavel Sheremet’. It can be concluded from a report made at a special briefing in Kiev.
The main lead in the Sheremet murder investigation is his professional activity in Ukraine and abroad, the investigators claimed. “The journalist criticized the Belarusian and Russian authorities in his publications,” Main Investigation Department chief Alexander Vakulenko said.
The woman who is believed to have placed the bomb under Sheremet’s car was seeing walking past the Belarusian Embassy in Kyiv before diving into a metro station. Her itinerary ‘was unusual’, according to the investigators.
Ukrainian Minister of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov said.Belarusian citizens may be connected with the murder of Sheremet.
Avakov: “We are considering several versions. We are also studying the groups of people who are not in Ukraine now but were on the Ukrainian territory at the moment of the murder. Russian and Belarusian citizens are among them. The citizens of other states are also suspected.”
Avakov did not say how many Belarusian citizens were involved in the case.
