CEC registers nominating groups for 69 activists from opposition parties
The Central Elections Commission (CEC) of Belarus has registered 304 nominating groups to collect signatures for nomination of candidates to run for seats in the parliament. The submission of documents ended on July 7. CEC Secretary Mikalai Lazavik told BELTA 479 applications for registration were filed with consituency election commissions. The applications will be reviewed in the course of five days. Therefore, new registered nominating groups may appear.
139 applications were filed in Minsk; 77 nominating groups were registered. The least number of application was submitted in Viciebsk region - 48. Only 37 nominating groups were registered there.
The list of the registered nominees includes 103 members of political parties, including 69 representatives of opposition parties. United Civil Party stands out among the other opposition parties with 24 registered members. The Fair World party and the Party of Belarusian Popular Front each had 16 members registered. Belarusian Social Democratic Party (Hramada) has 12 registrations. Belarusian Social Democratic Hramada has only 1 registered representative.
The parliamentary elections in Belarus will take place on September 11, 2016.
