Draft law 'On Combating Corruption' passed in the first reading
On Thursday, the House of Representatives voted in favor of the legislation.
On April 9, the House of Representatives voted in favor of the first reading of the draft law "On Combating Corruption". It was presented by Attorney General Alyaksandr Kanyuk. Among other things, he noted that the law will not be applied retroactively. This means that it will not apply to crimes committed before the date of its adoption.
In the summer of 2014, Alyaksandr Lukashenka ordered the government to prepare a revised version of the draft law on corruption. It was put to public debate. The drafters received more than 300 proposals, including from ordinary citizens. The main emphasis in the document is placed on strengthening control over the income of officials and their relatives.
