EU to freeze Rosneft and Gazprom CEOs’ accounts
Igor Sechin and Alexei Miller have been added on the black list of Russians – the EU will impose financial and visa sanctions on them.
Their foreign accounts may be frozen in response to Russia’s actions in Crimea. Moreover, the CEOs of the major state companies will be forbidden to enter the EU, Kommersant reports.
130 Russian officials and CEOs are on the black list, European and American diplomatic sources report.
However, it is not clear when the restrictions will be imposed. They affect Sechin and Miller as physical entities and do not affect the activities of their companies. But the sanctions may be imposed on the foreign projects of Rosneft and Gazprom later.
The visa sanctions imposed on Alexei Miller ‘will help the business of European airlines: partners will have to fly to us”, a Gazprom representative told Kommersant.
