According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus, 200 thousand Belarusians now live and work outside the country. This figure was announced by the head of the Department of Citizenship and Migration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Aliaksei Byahun, on the air of the ONT TV channel.
According to him, this is how many people left Belarus in 2021 and 2022. At the same time, the official said that in many cases the emigration is not related to politics. For example, IT specialists are forced to leave Belarus because of the sanctions imposed by the West.
Earlier, Deputy Interior Minister and commander of internal troops Mikalai Karpiankou said that almost twice as many - 350 thousand people - had left Belarus.
