Minsk Palace of Marriages: One in four marriages involves a foreigner
Belarusian women most often divorce from Arab husbands.
5 couples, involving a Chinese national, have got married at the Palace of Marriages since the beginning of the year, Euroradio has found out. One in four marriages has featured a foreigner.
“Traditionally, most international marriages are registered with Russians. They are followed by Germans and Italians. Also on the list are the nationals of Venezuela, Peru and Brazil. Foreign brides are also there from the countries like Italy, Costa Rica or the U.S.,” Palace of Marriages staffer told Euroradio.
56 foreigners married to Belarusians for the last half a year in the Civil Acts House in Brest.
"22 of them are Russians, 18 - Ukrainians, 3 - Poles and the same - Moldovans", - they tell us at the Civil Acts Registration Office in Brest.
They add that there was one marriage each with the citizens of Bangladesh and Guinea. Exotics! No children have been registered so far.
Belarusians most often divorce from Arabs, say representatives of the Zavodzki district court of Minsk.
"The most frequent divorces happen with the Arabs: Turkey, Egypt, Emirates. Italians and Spaniards - more rarely. As for the neighbouring countries, the number of divorces is small".
According to Belstat, 86 thousand marriages were registered in Belarus in 2011. The number includes more than 3000 marriages, involving a foreigner.
