Head of Vitsebsk affiliate of Union of Poles goes abroad
Uladzislau Tokarau says that he has fled because he is accused of financial machinations for no reason.
He is in Poland now. However, he is not going to ask for political asylum at the moment, informs Radio Liberty. Tokarau’s family – wife and daughter – are still in Belarus.
The activist of the Union of Poles left for Poland after his flat had been searched on May 28. He was detained in the street and interrogated in the Financial Investigation Department. Tokarau was told that that they had been informed that he had borrowed someone’s passport and money for some services and that he had lost it and appropriated the money. Tokarau was asked to comment on the activities of the Union of Poles.
