Nyasvizh official cancels $68 thousand car purchase
Nyasvizh District Executive Committee has refused to buy a new car for the chief after Euroradio's phone call.
The tender appeared on the state purchase website. Nyasvizh District Executive Committee informed that they were going to buy a 2012 Toyota Highlander for 580 million roubles (about 68 thousand dollars).
“The old one will be used. The tear and wear is not 100%, the car is still good", head of the District Executive Committee Ivan Krupko told Euroradio.
The lack of financing is said to be the reason for the auction cancellation.
"Toyota-Centre-Minsk" notes that cars for 68 thousand dollars are bought from them quite often... and District Executive Committees order them too..
Similar posh car purchase scandals have happed in Drahichyn and Yelsk Districts recently. The officials' need for the cars disappeared as soon as the public got to know about it.
