Alyaksandr Lukashenka gave interview to Euronews
It will be broadcast on Friday, October 3.
As an interviewer for the head of Belarus was chosen Sergio Cantone, head of the Euronews office in Eastern Europe, based in Kiev, informs BelTA. The interview lasted about one and a half hours. The vast number of questions was related to the situation in Ukraine.
Lukashenka said that at the beginning of the conflict in Ukraine he suggested the way to normalization. The West, however, according to the Belarusian leader, did not agree with his plan.
"When this conflict was in its infancy, some Western politicians asked me the question:" How do you see the situation in Ukraine, what needs to be done to stop this war? "Of course, I did not want to discuss this topic, knowing that it would not give results, but, nevertheless, I told them that I have my own vision and proposals to normalize the situation in Ukraine, to fully normalize it: and political situation, and not to bring it to war. And we proposed this plan to the West, without specifying it at that stage, confident that this would not lead to the West agreeing to it. Moreover, I promised that in the case of implementation of the proposals of the Belarusian side, the situation in Ukraine would be normalized, not to mention the fact that there would be no war. The West did not agree with that plan. It means somebody benefited from the situation," said Lukashenka.
