Beating of fans by Baranavichy police announced legal
The policemen were formally right, the Belarusian Football federation thinks.
An official reply concerning the incident that occurred in Baranavichy on May 3 has been sent to the Belarusian Football Federation. The actions of the policemen who had beaten football fans were announced legal, spring96.org refers to information and public relations inspectors of Baranavichy Province Executive Committee Alyaksandra Zaharava.
The policemen acted according to articles 26-28 of the law On the police of July 17, 2007 #263-3, the official reply says.
Policemen severally beat several fans with their truncheons before a football match on May 3.
Formally, the policemen acted according to the law, security specialist of the Belarusian Football Federation Alyaksandr Chernik thinks. However, the official reply was given by Brest police. Brest policemen simply tried to justify their actions and the use of force, Chernik believes. Furthermore, the report is inaccurate. It says that the fans tried to enter the stadium without a check-up but this is not true, the expert noted.
