Belarus may let Kerimov stand trial in Russia

Suleiman Kerimnov’s case papers may be sent to Russia, Interfax reports referring to its sources.

The Russian Constitution forbids giving out Russian citizens to other states. However, a Russian citizen may stand trial according to the Russian laws if a criminal case is started against them abroad and if there is proof of their guilt. Belarus stressed that there were traces of a crime in Kerimov’s actions.

Meanwhile, Uralkali has claimed that it is ready to protect its interests in court. The company has asked Russian competent bodies of power to help stop the persecution of Uralkali officials in Belarus.
