Customs Committee: information on the Russian border control are 'untrue'

The site of the State Customs Committee published a statement on the Russian border customs control. As Euroradio reported earlier, the Russian side issued a statement.

"Information posted in the Russian media about 'restoration of the customs control on the border with the Russian Federation'is not true," said the Belarusian statement. Customs Committee says that it operates in strict accordance with the customs legislation of the Customs Union of Belarus and the law on customs regulation.

Customs officials report that they have recorded 'a small number of attempts' to smuggle goods that had come under sanctions into the territory of Russia.

However, the Customs Committee informs about the ongoing customs control throughout the territory of Belarus. In particular, mobile task forces have been monitoring tarnspart coming from Russia to Belarus. "As a result of such monitoring, we repeatedly have identified cases of carriers completely lacking documents for the transported goods, as well as violations of veterinary, phytosanitary and other requirements," said the statement.
