Father Alexander Nadson dies in London
The well-known Greek-Catholic priest was 88 years old.
A famous activist if the Belarusian community, Greek-Catholic priest Alexander Nadson has died in London, Radio Liberty reports.
He was born near Niasvizh on August 8, 1926. In 1944 he emigrated from Belarus, and in the autumn of 1944 was a soldier in the British Army. He immigrated to Great Britain in 1946. Nadson was one of the founders of the Association of Belarusians in Great Britain. Father Alexander wrote several books on the history of Belarus, was the director of the Francis Skaryna Belarusian Library and Museum in London and the chairman of a Chernobyl charity fund.
The Vatican officially approved the liturgical texts for Belarusian Greek Catholics translated by Nadson into Belarusian, BelaPAN reports.
Father Alexander visited Belarus in October 2010 and attended the presentation of the book Your Sun Will Never Set And Your Moon Will Never Hide published for his 80th anniversary and the 50th anniversary of his Christian work.
