Football players of “Dynama-Brest” save their fan from police
Right after the goalkeeper of “Dynama-Brest” Yuryi Tsyhalka had managed to return a penalty performed by the goalkeeper of Barysau “BATE” Alyaksandr Fedarovіch and helped his team get the Cup of Belarus happy fans rushed to the football ground to congratulate their idols.
Only one fan managed to get to the football ground. The police did not like it and started calming down the fans in their usual manner – by beating them with batons. Who knows what it could lead to if the players Andrei Tsevan and Victar Sokal did not stand up for their fans.
ERB looked at the situation from the point if view of the manager of “Dynama-Brest” Uladzimir Hevarkyan. He praised his players and said they did well:
Uladzimir Hevarkyan: “I saw they rushed to the fans and I was standing on the football ground! Fans seemed to be beaten with batons or something like that. It was wrong but… our guys protected them – good job! When we were taking pictures fans were already standing near us and taking pictures with us”.
The fans of “Dynama-Brest” call themselves “Blue-White Devils”. The group of fans always gathers in the 9th sector of Brest stadium. Football amateurs from the city upon the Bug are proud of the biggest banner in Belarus and pyrotechnics that can even stop matches.
The police beat the “blue-whites” rather hard on May 27. First it happened in the football ground and then – at the grandstand. We asked the Leninksi District Department of the Interior (detained fans could have been delivered here) for explanations.
An employee of the Leninksi District Department of the Interior said: “They simply made a mistake. They rushed to the ground… Now we are not treating them in a strict way. We just stopped them and made them go back to the grandstand.”
ERB managed to phone the mother of one of the fans – Ivan Kaledzin, and she said that her son was beaten when he came back home. The press attaché of the Brest “Dynama” Eduard Belyamuk says:
Eduard Belyamuk: “I read it was a fight on the forums. Special police troops were using batons and the fans were waving away with flags”.
The captain, half-back Victar Sokal, became a real hero of the fight:
Vіctar Sokal: “I do not know that guy. I just saw one of our fans being beaten. I approached and said: guys, calm down, everything is ok! I just made the policemen stop beating a person, that’s it”.
Fans rush to the football grounds around the world. They are stopped everywhere – caught and forced out of the ground.
Strange, but the fact of beating the fans was not mentioned in the protocol of the final match for the Cup of Belarus which means that the question is settled. So nobody is going to make any conclusions.
Brest football fans and the police will meet at another stadium. But will there be Victar Sokal to stop the fight?
