Lukashenka: Russia’s $2bln to back us in most difficult period (video)
Russia will give an additional loan to Belarus, Russia's president said at the meeting of the Supreme Council of the Union State.
The decision was made by the Russian government “to support colleagues in connection with the situation in the world markets and give Belarus an additional credit of $2 billion in 2014,” Putin stressed. Belarus will receive this interstate credit for 10 years.
Alyaksandr Lukashenka expressed his gratitude for the financial assistance and said that the money “would support the Belarusian economy in the most difficult period”. It will help support the exchange rate of the Belarusian rouble. The Russian government made the decision “for a reason”, he said. He thinks that the credit will also help the Russian economy due to close relations. About 10 million Russians work for the Belarusian economy, Lukashenka claimed.
One more agreement – the agreement on military and technical cooperation – was not covered, Kommersant notes. “It may be the real cost of the issue. This may be the reason why Alyaksandr Lukashenka always comes back to Moscow for his victory,” the edition reports.
