Lukashenka tells about his pain: his face was split, sutured 4 times

The Belarusian leader answered the questions which concerned the future of the CIS and other integration unions, relations with the West, the "Uralkali" scandal, the Russian oil shipments, the problem of migration and human rights.

General Director of the Ukrainian newspaper Rabochaya Gazeta Anatoly Krivolapov reminded about the Ice Hockey World Cup-2014, which Minsk will host, and noted that ice hockey had always been Lukashenka's favourite kind of sports. Lukashenka objected (see the video starting from 23.15).

"Why do you think it's my favourite game?" the CTV TV-channel quotes as Lukashenka says. "This is not true... I played football all my life. All my life, indeed. When I already was a president, I switched to that... When I was really young I was good in football. I was running to the right side of the field to pass the ball to the goal, as usual, and fell on the left knee. I fell on the left knee at such crazy speed, twisted my left leg and damaged the falciform cartilage. Still, as I said I was young and the injury was forgotten soon.

Then, I became President. Remember, we gathered full stadiums when I became a president? We played at "Dynama" stadium against the legendary "Dynama" team, which became the world champion (!?). I even have a photo somewhere, I showed it to Vladimir Vladimirovich [Putin]. I was wearing the knee protector at play all the time, but it did not affect the game much, it was more or less normal. Then it got worse.

I had a knee surgery and now it hurts me to run. When I run, it moves... I had to recall my childhood game. Do you remember the skates they wore to play hockey then? I started playing ice hockey, these smooth movement on the ice. My face was split and sutured 4 times, etc. No one pays attention who you are during the game. Still, I had to do that.

I like roller skiing a lot, I made 13 kilometers yesterday. Then I played volleyball. Volleyball demands jumping. My knee hurt all night, I couldn't do anything. Still, I wanted to play! I used to play volleyball. The team, the company got together."
