Poroshenko allows foreigners to serve in Ukraine's National Guard
On December 27, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko signed the Law "On Amendments to the Law of Ukraine "On the National Guard of Ukraine" regarding the improvement of the legal framework for the National Guard of Ukraine." The Verkhovna Rada adopted the law on 24 December.
According to the censor.net.ua, the law clarifies the legal bases of operations and powers of the National Guard of Ukraine. It also regulates the organization, order of service of the National Guard units and their interaction with law enforcement agencies, local authorities and the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
In addition, the law gives the right to foreigners and stateless persons legally residing in the territory of Ukraine to voluntary serve in the National Guard.
