Belarusian NPP constructed for political reasons
Alexksey Yablokov, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, has expressed the opinion.
He noted in an interview with Belsat that Belarus did not need a nuclear power station to satisfy its energy needs. There are a lot of alternatives like geothennal energy.
In the expert’s opinion, the construction of the first Belarusian NPP in Belarus is caused by political reasons. “Russia may be trying to make Belarus more depended. What is a nuclear power station? It is fuel and you cannot do anything without it. The fuel is produced in Russia”, - stressed Yablokov.
