No guaranteed first-job placements for 'budget students'

2 thousand graduates of the Belarusian universities failed to get to their first places of work last year. Meanwhile, paying students unexpectedly asked for assignment - they tell Euroradio in the Mahileu University named after Arkadz Kulyashou:

"15-17% of paying students ask for state assignment. Some of them are satisfied, some not, some even take another assignment - but these are exceptional cases".

Graduate of the Mahileu University named after Arkadz Kulyashou Tatsyana Haraninava decided to go for the state assignment although she paid for education. She teaches English at school.

"There is a bonus to the salary for the sum of about Br 220 thousand per month, so the salary becomes approximately Br 3 million. There are also some benefits", - Tatsyana Haraninava explains the pluses of state assignment for the paying students.

In the Belarusian state technological university it is difficult to provide assignment work places even to the budget students: they don't manage to do it at one attempt:

"There is the practice of re-assignment is a person doesn't like the work conditions - the commission re-assigns them, there are a lot of such graduates" - they say in this university.

They also assign paying students, but there are not many of them - just several people.

Officials of the BSU Geography Faculty recall one student who got a free diploma last year. Lucky guy!

"Almost every student gets assignment, 100%. However, one student wanted a free diploma, he should be provided such an opportunity under the law, so he got it", - they say at the BSU Geography Faculty and recall the graduates that had to be re-assigned.

The BSU faculty of philosophy and social studies assigned one paying student last year.

In 2012, more than 1600 paying students all over the country wanted state assignment.
