Japanese children to come to Belarus for rehabilitation?

Japanese children who suffered from the consequences of the accident at "Fukusima" NPP may come to Belarus for rehabilitation. The deputy chairman of the  commission on education, culture and science of the House of Representatives Aliaksandr Shatsko has come up with such an idea.

Aliaksandr Shatsko: “There is an initiative of funds and associations, who deal with rehabilitation of children abroad. It's a new initiative. There is an idea but there are some nuances in the financial shphere as well”.

It is planned that Belarusian families will receive the kids. However, such an initiative has come only from Homel, Aliaksandr Shatsko says.

Aliaksandr Shatsko: “It is unclear whether there will be a corresponding willingness from the Japanese side. Maybe they will be scared by Homel territories”.

The main problem, says the deputy, is money. In Belarus, people who will receive Japanese children may cover some expenses. As for air tickets to our country, these should be covered either by the Japanese side, or by some organization.

In the opinion of the creator of the charity fund "Children of Chernobyl" Henadz Hrushavy, the Japanese might want to go to Belarus. However, he is sceptical about this initiative:

Henadz Hrushavy: “Nothing good will come out of our visits to one another after these blasts and catastrophes. We'd better join forces with civil initiatives and humanitary communities in Japan, and try to appeal to other countries of the world together. It will be good if we manage to convince them to expand different programs and invite not just Chernobyl children, but Fukusima children as well, this will be really good”.
