"Liapis Trubetskoy" on crossed-out names on posters: This is absurd...
The names of the bands "Liapis Trubetskoy" and "Tarakany" were crossed out with a black marker on the Russian festival's posters in Homel.
Posters of the Russian music festival
"Cubana", which is planned to take place in Russia on July 29-31,
appeared in Homel streets. Among the enlisted head-liners which will
participate in the festival, there are the bands "Liapis Trubetskoy"
and "Tarakany". However, the names of these bands were crossed out by
a black marker! Let us remind you, both bands are in the so-called 'black
list" of artists and culture activists, whose concerts were cancelled and
songs prohibited for rotation at radio-stations and TV-channels. According to
the director of "Liapis Trubetskoy" Yauhen Kalmykou,
this should have been expected as the name of the band is absent in other
Belarusian advertisements of the festival.
Yauhen Kalmykou:
"Someone wants to be extra-safe... But this is absurd, as we are
head-liners at "Cubana" festival. For example, we are in the
promo-videos in Moscow, while there's no mentioning of us in radio commercials
played in our native Minsk. This is just somebody's wish to be extra safe, and
it is very sad to speak on this".
Representatives of the agency which
distributed posters in Homel confirmed that the names of the bands had really
been crossed out. However, they told that the censored posters arrived from
Minsk.
"The client sent us such posters. We do not print them. The client passed
them looking like this, and we distributed them like this. We do not produce
posters, we just distribute them", – the agency's employee says.
Employees of the company "Plombir TV", which produced and distributed
posters in Belarus, also said they had crossed out nothing and had not even
heard about this. Thus, it turns out that someone has been crossing out the
"blacklisted" bands on the way from Minsk to Homel. However, it
rained in Homel closer to the evening and the rain washed off the black ink.
