"Someone wanted to put Astapchuk in such a humiliating situation"
The doping found in the Belarusian's blood could not make her results better, but cannot get her the golden medal back.
Head of the National Anti-Doping Agency Alyaksandr Vankhadla tells Euroradio that they have 21 days to investigate the doping scandal around Nadzeya Astapchuk.
Sports journalist Barys Tasman doubts that Astapchuk took doping. He says that probably someone wanted to put the athlete and her coach in such a humiliating situation on purpose, or even took revenge on her.
"For me, the version that someone wanted to put them in such a scandalous and humiliating situation looks more logical".
Astapchuk's case may become a sensation as she passed about a dozen tests before the Olympics. All of them were clear. The latest test was before going to London - July 30. The research conducted by the laboratory in Germany revealed that there were no drugs in Astapchuk's blood. The first positive test was taken on August 5, before the contest. Meanwhile, "Primabalan", which was found in Astapcuk's body, starts acting only after 2-3 weeks of use, says Vankhadla.
It becomes evident who needs the scandal around Nadzeya Astapchuk when we recall detention of track and field national team's main coach Anatol Badueu, as well as the team's doctor Pavel Dryneuski, by the KGB. It happened in the end of May. Several days before this detention, "Pressball" published Barys Tasman's article about some mysterious "killer" who took money from the athletes for solving the problem with anti-doping agencies. Like, some sportsmen paid, and some rebelled.
Tasman says that there are many people left after Badueu in the Track and Field Federation, and they can take revenge.
"They are struggling for power in the Belarusian track and field, and they have reasons for that. I am not putting my finger onto them but they have motivation to do this, as their situation, their life got worse after this case".
The KGB does not comment on Badueu's case, although he has been in prison for two months and a half already.
However, there's practically no hope to get Nadzeya Astapchuk's medal back. The experts say that she may only hope for a 1-year disqualification instead of the 2-years. She can seek justice only inside the country. The criminal case has not been started yet as the situation is still being clarified.
