Treason suspect sends letter from KGB prison
His ex-girlfriend has received it. Not a single letter has reached his parents so far.
Andrei Haidukou's mother, Volha, told Euroradio:
“His ex-girlfriend has received a letter from him. They broke up in summer. He wrote that he remembered only two addresses - ours and hers. We have not received a single letter. Thank God, she has received it. It seems that it was written two weeks ago. It is very optimistic, Andrei could keep his temper."
The inhabitant of Navapolatsk was detained in Vitsebsk on November 8 and delivered to Minsk. KGB announced that the guy was detained "while leaving a mail drop with political and economic information" meant for foreign intelligence. He was suspected of "treason".
Haidukou's relatives and friends say that he is innocent and explain his detention by political reasons - he was a democratic activist.
Andrei Haidukou was transferred from Minsk KGB prison to Vitsebsk last week. His whereabouts were unknown for some time but he "was found" in Vitsebsk detention centre #2 on Saturday. No information about a change of his charges is available.
