Yerevan police promise to disperse protesters by midnight LIVE
Protesters have reached their goals and should leave or go back to Freedom Square, Yerevan police chief claimed.
Yerevan police are going to free blocked streets and avenues of the Armenian capital by midnight, RBK quotes Yerevan police chief Valeri Osipyan.
The police will use methods allowed by the law, he noted. The police have not been interfering for six days and have decided that it is time to act. He has asked protesters to leave or return to Freedom Square. They achieved their goal after the President’s announcement made on Saturday, he believes. Serzh Sargsyan promised to undertake all the problems caused by the rise in the electricity prices until he Armenian Power Lines presented audit results.
Protesters claimed that they would not leave and gather at a meeting instead. They are planning to discuss further actions. They want the authorities to punish those who are responsible for power abuse during the dispersal of the protest action that started on June 19.
