Actress: my salary is three million rubles
Usually Euroradio writes about the salaries of teachers, doctors, agricultural workers and educators. But what money do actors get?
Hanna Khitryk is an actress of the Kupala theater, the one that recently had its 95th anniversary. Hanna and her husband Siarhei Rudenya work in the theatre. She speaks about her salary:
"We get good salary, we do not even want to go to other five jobs we have. But you can write it, I'll get a scolding for it anyway: our salary is 2.8-3 millions. Of course, if you spend all the time in the theater, the salary will be higher," Hanna talks about her salary with irony.
She says that the distribution of the family budget is very simple:
"If you have an apartment, everything is easier. You go to the Euroopt and buy everything you need, then you pay communal services. We rent our place, so the salary of one of us goes for housing and kindergarten. And we live on the second salary."
The actress says that life would be difficult, if she didn't have some extra work: "We are adults and we understand that it is necessary to move", but we also get help from the husband's parents:
"Siarhei's parents bring us potatoes, carrots. They live and work in Salihorsk and work with eight hands. Without their support it would be difficult for us."
Rock princess and actress Anastasia Shpakouskaya working at the Gorky theater also cannot boast high salary. The lead singer of the Naka band said that wages of Belarusian actors, even the top ones, are not as big as it is thought.
"The season started on August 18, I have the highest professional category and many major roles. I received a salary of 2.5 million .... If not for my husband, I would have probably died of hunger," said the woman laughing.
"Work in the theater has never been well-paid. The actors of Moscow theaters, too, cannot boast of high salaries, but there they are not so small! Now everyone does not get much, in spite of the election and promised benefits. Unless you're a policeman or an athlete," said Anastasia. She added she did not recall the last time her salary went up.
Euroradio was told about the 4 million ruble salaries at the Hrodna Puppet Theater as well. Theatre director Maryia Shabashova says they earn themselves.
"With all the extra money that we are earning, the salary is 4 millions. The salary that the state gives us is no more than 2.2 million rubles. But we cannot sit and wait for the state to give us something. There are months when we get five, and sometimes it's three million," said the director.
But many theaters where the Euroradio turned for information hide how much they pay their actors - would not even quote the average amount. According to the National Statistics Committee, the salary of the cultural workers for July was 5.3 million rubles.
