All employees of Belarusian Embassy to stay in Libya
About 20 Belarusian citizens were evacuated from the Jamahiriya on February 23. The Embassy is working 24/7.
Fewer than 20 people have asked the Belarusian Embassy to Tripoli for assistance since the beginning of the armed conflict in Libya. Euroradio has managed to contact the Embassy although the connection in Libya is very bad now.
"Even fewer than 10 people addressed us but we are trying to contact people on our own, we initiate it and we keep phoning citizens, - said an employee of the Embassy. – About 15 people contacted us by phone and by e-mail. We are phoning the people we know about now”.
Fewer than 20 people were evacuated on a Russian Emergency Ministry plane yesterday, informed the Belarusian Embassy in an interview with Euroradio.
"It was the first flight and we provided the people who phoned us with maximum information. We invited them to board the airplane of the Russian Emergency Control Ministry and they arrived in Minsk yesterday”.
It is quite calm in the Libyan capital now, informs the Belarusian Embassy. The country’s Foreign Minister accompanied Ambassadors to the capital so that they could assess the situation. It is relatively quiet near the Belarusian Embassy at the moment.
"It is quiet in our neighbourhood in Tripoli. The Libyan Foreign Minister met all the Ambassadors yesterday. He invited them to visit the places that were announced to have been bombed so that they could make impartial reports about the situation in the country”.
The Belarusian Embassy to Tripoli is working 24/7 so that people who are in Libya now could contact it.
"The Embassy is working 24/7 because we are constantly keeping contact with our citizens. Our employees’ family members have left but all the employees will stay”.
All the Belarusians who have questions to ask or who need assistance are urged to dial the Embassy’s phone numbers.
"If there is no connection, and it is missing rather often, they can e-mail their questions and contacts to us so that we could contact them”.
