Belarus not to go to Eurovision?

The national nomination round named Eurofest took place in Minsk last week. Out of the three shortlisted finalists -- Diana Gurckaya, The Project band and Dzima Kaldun, the jury picked the winner of the Star Factory-6.

Kaldun was officially introduced as a Belarus nominee for the Eurovision-2007 to be held in Helsinki with the Work Your Magic song.

The head of the national organizing committee Aliaksandr Cichanovic noted that the Dobrysh center told him that "Kaldun was a very weak singer and the center did not want to compromise his reputation as it happened during then previous Eurovision contests with Julija Savisheva and Natalya Podolskaya."

Meanwhile, the European Broadcasting Union has officially announced Kaldun as the contest particiapnt from Belarus. The singer, currently in Minsk, describes the situation as "surprising" and is not going to refuse from taking part in the Eurovision contest. He said he won his chance in a fair competition.
