The road accident occurred in Shumilin District at about 8.15 a.m. on May 23. An articulated lorry DAF collided with an ambulance parked near the road. The four doctors who were in the car died. Another one was seriously injured.
The driver violated several road rules at a time, investigators found out. He was speeding, crossed the road line and was distracted from driving. The man had already been charged with violating the road rules before, BelTA reports.
The man was retuned guilty of violating article 317, p.3 of the Criminal Code – violation of the road rules resulting in the death of two or more people. Hew ass sentenced to 7 years of penal labour. It is the maximum term for such crimes.
