Eurasian Development Bank to give Belarus $2 billion loan
Belarus will receive a loan of two billion dollars from the Eurasian Development Bank. The relevant decision was passed by the Council of the Eurasian Fund for Stabilization and Development on March 25.
The money will be allocated in seven installments over the 2016-2018 period. The first tranche of $500 million should be transferred within the next few days, as our country has fulfilled all the key conditions in the framework of this tranche. The remaining six tranches will be allocated as the relevant conditions are implemented. It is planned that two tranches will be allocated to Belarus in 2016, three tranches - in 2017 and one tranche - in 2018.
As the press service of the EDB reported, the loan will support the government's and the Belarus National Bank's reform program. This reform program provides for the establishment of macroeconomic prerequisites for economic growth and market reforms aimed at ensuring its sustainability.
