Ex-political prisoner’s preventive supervision term prolonged by 3 months
Minsk Pershamaiski District Court has pronounced the sentence to Zmitser Dashkevich today.
Judge Leanid Yarmolenka explained the court’s decision by the fact that Dashkevich had violated the preventive supervision regime several times. The police asked to prolong his supervision term, Radio Liberty reports.
Leader of the unregistered organization Young Front Zmitser Dashkevich and his associate Eduard Lobau were arrested on December 18, 2010 – on the eve of the presidential election. They were accused of beating two Minskers and convicted. Politicians and human rights activists called the detention and arrest a pre-election intimidation measure.
Zmitser was imprisoned for two years in March 2011. His term was prolonged by 12 months in Hlybokaye colony in 2012. It was explained by ‘systematic disobedience to the prison administration.’ Dashkevich was transferred to Hrodna prison last autumn. He was released on August 28, 2013.
Zmitser Dashkevich was put under preventive supervision after the release. It means that he has to be home by 8 p.m. and cannot go out until 6 a.m. He also needs to visit the police station three times a month.
