Giorgi Margvelashvili wins presidential election in Georgia
The Georgian CEC has counted 97,09% of votes.
Over 830 thousand people voted for candidate of the leading coalition "Georgian Dream" Giorgi Margvelashvili. This is more than 62% of the citizens that came to the polling stations, RIA Novosti reports.
According to the country's Electoral Code, the candidate who gets 50% votes plus 1 of all the quantity of voters, wins the election.
David Bakradze from the United National Movement (Mikhael Saakashvili's party) comes next with a little more than 290 thousand votes. Parliament's Ex-Speaker Nino Burjanadze got more than 130 thousand votes.
Regardless of the results at the polling stations where the votes haven't been counted yet, Giorgi Margvelashvili has already won.
