Language society tells government to publish Alexievich's works in Belarusian
Svetlana Alexievich's works should be included in the curriculum of the Belarusian literature. This proposal was made to the Ministry of Education by the Frantsishak Skaryna Belarusian Language Society.
In addition, the BLS asked the Information Ministry to publish all the books of the Nobel laureate in government publishing houses. In the commentary to Radio Liberty, Aleh Trusau, Chairman of the Society, said that the Ministry had already given the answer. According to officials, the BLS proposal will be considered, when the writer agrees to have her books republished in the Belarusian state publishing house.
"I think it is possible, especially if we attached to it a few thousand signatures, if people, after Alexievich agrees, write to the Minister of Information Ananich: we want to read in our native Belarusian language the books of the Nobel laureate," said Trusau.
