Latvia to introduce euro in 6 months
The Economic and Financial Affairs Council (ECOFIN) has made the final decision today. 1 euro will cost 1.422 lats.
Latvia will start using the euro on January 1, 2014. The Ministers have confirmed that the exchange rate will be 0,702804 lats for 1 euro.
Latvia will become the 18th eurozone member. Pensions and wages will be paid in euro starting from January 1. Latvians will be able to pay either in lats or in euro in shops. However, the change will always be given in euro, Delfi reports.
