Lukashenka: Belarus is ancient, different states existed here (video)
Belarus President met UNESCO Director-General Irina Bokova on April 18 in Minsk.
Government's attention to the preservation of cultural heritage helps strengthen statehood, Alyaksandr Lukashenka noted.
Lukashenka: “It is essential that we find things in the past connecting us with the present. We would not like to forget who we are and we pay a lot of attention to these objects. They help strengthen our statehood and demonstrate that Belarus is an ancient land and different states existed here. However, Belarus is an independent state nowadays but it originates from the past.”
The Belarusian President noted the importance of UNESCO activities and promised to always support the initiatives of the organization.
