Lukashenka on match with Latvia: People will be upset if we lose (video)
Belarus president today held a meeting with officials in charge of the hockey championship in Minsk.
In particular, Aliaksandr Lukashenka was interested in security issues, medical assistance for foreign fans and the future prospects of Belarus national team at the hockey championship.
Belarus national hockey team will play with Latvia today. The game will start at Minsk Arena at 8.45 p.m. Both teams have 9 points and the team that will win in the regular time will make it to the quarterfinal.
"Losing will complicate our life a lot, we will probably drop out of the championship and upset our people. All that has been done so far will be cancelled out,” Interfax-West quotes Lukashenka.
The other today’s matches will be: Kazakhstan – Finland (Minsk Arena, 5.45 p.m.), Denmark – France (Chyzhouka Arena, 4.45 p.m.) and Italy – Sweden (Chyzhouka Arena 8.45 p.m.)
Group B: Russia (18 points in 6 matches), USA (11, 6), Belarus (9, 5), Latvia (9, 5), Finland (8, 6), Switzerland (8, 6), Germany (5, 6) and Kazakhstan (5, 6).
